When I go quiet, it’s usually because I’m busy working, which is always great.
Recently, I’ve been making lots of lovely glass for customers, who commissioned something special. If you’re looking for a gift for someone, and you can’t find what you had in mind, or perhaps you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for, you might consider a commission. Having something specially made for someone shows such a lot of thought, and everything hand-crafted is made with love and care. Such a special present is sure to be very much treasured and appreciated.
So, among the art pieces I’ve been working on are: a bespoke house-warming gift; a wedding present featuring the name of the couple in Ogham; and a piece to remember this most unique year 2020, with all the changes that Covid 19 brought to a household. As these are very personal to the people concerned, I don’t want to reveal too much, but I’ll include a sneak peak at one, without telling you which one – so as not to give the game away!
Another very fun project, was for a friend of mine who has a good collection of my glass already! She delivered two lanterns to me recently. She’d already removed the clear glass that was in them, and had a good idea of what she wanted me to do. The results are fab, and will look just as good in daylight as they will when lit at night!
Maybe these will inspire you to have a present specially made for someone. This doesn’t only apply to me here at King’s Forge Glass – Ireland is filled with wonderful craftspeople, who can create just what you have in mind – whether that’s an art piece, ceramic, textile, wood or whatever. All you have to do is ask!
